Halloween was almost a whole week long here- i'm guessing its mostly because it fell on a Wednesday. Also because of Blythe's obsession with carving pumpkins, Jaz and i counted and she did 6 that we know of! and they aren't just like jack-o-lanterns they are like full on works of art. its pretty cool! anyway! as this week of halloween ended on halloween i threw together a very simple costume.
many of you know of the scene from Risky Business where tom cruise was home alone, dancing in a dress shirt and undies...
i borrowed a church shirt from a friend and socks from curt and went and got some (long as i could find) boxer briefs. i already had the sun glasses!
so i went to work for an hour or two the preschool classes are durring day light hours so they were still in session. shortly afterwards though i rode home and changed into my costume!
then we went trick or treating!- the majority of my friends are pretty small and we all passed for highschoolers! which was cool! i mean hey! free candy!
then Jaz and i rallied everyone up for a dance party at the apartment complex where Curt lives (he was at work. poor schmuck)
so we danced a little, hung out with our shy friend Jeremy and called it a night!
for a college halloween i was happy relative calm of it all! (:
oh! then later on ( at like 2 am) a bunch of people came over and we watched a scary movie!

sunday dinner
Shared sunday dinner is a kind of new thing that we've started! Curt and Bryan have a very nice, sweet, caring room mate named Jeremy! and he invited our house over for dinner on Sunday! we made cal zones, carved pumpkins, talked for forever, and had a generally good time! even their room mate William Thomas- who i swear is afraid of the human population, stuck around the whole time!
our house was in charge of dessert, so i made a giant Pizooki! the edges burnt a little bit.. but it was good!
i love spending time outside of our house, with other people! this coming Saturday were feeding the elders and inviting Jeremy's apartment, and our friend Theo and his housemates as well! i'm super excited!
being raised in a home where there was always people over and good food and good conversation made me really love doing the same thing.
in fact when we have people over and there isn't any food involved i feel alien. like something isn't right.
i also get really excited for Sunday dinners!
thanks ma(:

boyfraaannn.
so a lot of you may have noticed my relationship change on Facebook. yes, i do in fact have a boyfriend.
his name is Curtis Clark Young. hes a skinny little guy who is about 6 inches taller than i am ( so hes pretty small).
Curt is very passionate about music. That is one of the very first things we ever talked about, and hes always finding new stuff and trying to get people around him hooked on it! He also likes old movies and Pokeman.
to sum it up, hes a nerd. a really funny one. he walks around town with these HUGE headphones on and everyone calls him the headphone guy. he works at sonic, hes the drive through guy- everyone in town knows him because of that. (even some of the kids i coach).hes really good with words half of the time he says stuff and it just goes over my head...but i play along like i know what hes saying and eventually i get it!
hes from Tuscon where his younger sister and parents live. he has two sisters that live in Utah! and a brother in San Francisco. one of his sisters in Utah is married and has 2 cute little babies, and the rest of his siblings are single! hes the second to last in age order!
im trying to think what else is relevant information.. i cant think of anything. if you have questions, just ask.
how did we meet? Bryan.
his room mate Bryan told him all about me and how much he liked me. Bryan wanted to date me, so Curt came into the picture trying to help get me and Bryan set up.
i remember the first day we met. Bryan was so excited to introduce us! but i was super sick. it was my second weekend here and i had caught some kind of bug. so they come strolling into the house when i looked and felt like death. i wanted nothing to do with either of them. so they left almost as soon as they came.
weeks went by and we started hanging out all the time just because we had all the same friends. then the weekend came that Bryan brought me home to PHX to pick up Mira Elisa.
the entire weekend i was texting Curtis because he had bailed on the trip and i really didnt want it to just be me and Bryan because i didnt want him to get the wrong idea.
anyway! so then we started texting all the time. Curt's side of the story states that he kept trying to find reasons to come over. we started seeing each other everyday.
the weekend that we built a fort in the living room was the weekend i knew i wanted to be with him.
he tried to get into the dance with me and Jaz (we didn't have the right ID cards) so we all went to Denny's instead. we just all three talked for a long long time.
i started telling Jaz that i would be cool if Curt and i dated and she started to get on board with the idea!
the 4 of us, Jaz, me, Curt, and Bryan would hang out every night! sometimes we would watch movies, other times it was a card game or whatever we could do. whenever a day or tow would go by that we didn't see each other i would feel way weird. like something just wasn't right.
so then one night were watching a terrible movie (him and Jaz thought it was fantastic). so were watching this movie and Jaz starts taking up half of the couch and pushing Curt and i closer together. then he put his arm around me. *this is the magic moment where it all kind of started*
after that we would have the nightly hang outs like normal but Bryan and Jaz would flake out early because we were staying up until like 3 am. -its insane i know.
anyway! one night we were having a really good conversation and he asked me, "what if i just kissed you right now? " and i said, "i dare you." and he did.
a couple days later i asked him what we were doing (that define the relationship chat) and he asked me to be his girlfriend!
this only brought on tons of drama from Bryan and Blythe who were/ still are against it.
we waited like 2 weeks before we told anyone but Jaz. and even after that it took another 2 weeks before Bryan would talk to either of us. i take that back, Bryan talked to me. but he was so mean that he made me cry. he told me to go die.
needless to say that its cooled down an awful lot. and things are good right now!(:

date night
Curt and i went on a date later on, after Mema and Ed took off. there is this cute little place in town where they sell shaved ice shakes! its so yummy! Curt and i got our usual watermelon shakes and his friend Kye and his girl Christina (i think thats what her name was.. ) got shakes too and then we headed for the movie theater!
the place was packed full! which is understandable because its the only place in town... so we saw taken 2. it was really really good! i had a really good time!
usually when Curt and i hang out were able to talk and make fun of each others reactions to whatever is going on. so i wasnt in love with the movie theater setting. but oh well! it was a fun date and it was fun to meet Kye- i guess hes one of Curt's oldest friends from back home. so it was fun to hear them talk about when they were growing up! (:

Mema and Ed came to visit me!
My Mema came to see me! Her and Ed and i went around town and i showed them around! we went out to the temple and walked around for a while. then we went back to my house to grab my bike so we could bring it to a bike shop and have the tire fixed! ( i have such good grandparents!)
we went out for lunch in old town Safford! at a really yummy little place called El Charo, i had never been there before but i'd heard good things! and bonus points- it was close to the bike shop!
after lunch they took me grocery shopping! i don' think i have to go shopping for the next month. no joke, we had a hard time closing the freezer once everything was in! they are so good to me.
the reason they came out was because i had asked Ed if he could give me a blessing so that i could have a clear head and just be able to keep things together. he was kind enough to do so, hes a good man.
i am incredibly thankful to have people in my life that care for me so much. having Mema and Ed in town made me really miss being at home and being even further surrounded by those people.
i love you guys. thank you.

homecoming weekend
back story: Jaz and B and i all sat down one night and decided to make a bucket list for the time that we're all here together! it included a whole bunch of stuff (the old people thing we did was on it) so this weekend we looked at it and found an easy one that we liked- couch cruzin! so Jaz and i went to home depot and got a furniture dolly. we came home and put the old couch from our porch on it. (the dolly was a lot smaller than the couch so we had to balance it out)
only one person could ride at once and that person had to hold onto a flashlight so that when cars were coming we wouldn't get hit! because yes, we were on the regular road.
the homecoming celebration included a huge bonfire and fireworks! so we "Drove" our couch out there! it was so much fun! and we met sooo many people who were like, "hey can i take a seat for a second?" hahaha it made me giggle every time someone walked past and said "dang. why didn't we think of that?" or anything along those lines.
by the end of the night the couch wasn't rolling so well so we pulled the dolly out to check it out. the middle wood piece had cracked somewhere durring our journey, and the best part- one of the big old plastic wheels inverted. it was so warped it didnt even look like a wheel! it was more like a square cone.
so Quintin (the one with the glasses) walked home to get his truck so we could get the couch home!
the dolly was only 20$ so i think sometime down the line were going to try again! (:
cockroach.
so Curt is over this weekend and we stayed up pretty late watching the Sandlot. when the movie finally ended he was on his way out, a cockroach crawled across the floor! i panicked and made him try and kill it. he couldn't find it, so we gave up and he went home. about an hour later Jaz wakes up and starts running into the living room (thats where i was sleeping) and then she ran into Blythe's room. so were all awake at like 3 am because Jaz woke up to the "sound of something crawling by her head"
we look around, cant find anything.
then Jaz gets up to go pee and starts screaming again- she found it. it was on the ceiling. so we grab some raid and a broom. i sprayed it and Blythe 'broomed' it. a few seconds later we see another one crawling by her dresser. the Blythe lifts the broom to find that the little guy is gone. he made a run for it. so we chase it across the room spraying it and trying to smash it. to no avail.
finally we see it go into the closet and Jaz goes, "thats Satan" "thats a devil roach."
and it came running out, right at her. at this point it got pounded with raid and smashed as hard as we could. he just laid there all dead like for a second. then he started trying to turn over onto his legs again. we all started screaming.
Blythe held the broom over him as a threat almost while i ran for matches. Jaz and i burned his head off and then B Flushed him.
this story makes me laugh so hard, the entire time it was happening i was laughing too. which spurred dirty looks from Blythe, who was dead beat tired, and a whimper from Jaz, who was scared out of her pants.
i just find the whole thing to be really funny! here it is, 3 in the morning and were all running around after a roach, but each of us is so scared that if it moves too close to us we scream. hahahaha

best job in the entire world.
gym coach. that's what i am.
my job is perfect, i come home all peppy afterwards simply because it is so great! i love talking to the kids about everything and anything they can think of. i love teaching them new tricks and seeing their eyes light up when they finally grasp how to do it by themselves. i even get to do really cool stuff like go to Mesa with the older girls...
on the 6th of this month i woke up really early to ride my bike to the gym (this is also the morning my tire popped on my bike. so i got a ride with Jaz) (another side note story- my room mate Jazmyn is working at the gym now too. she doesnt have a load of hours but its something to help pay for food every month!)
anyway! early morning at the gym. we load up all the little girls (8-10) into a little bus, while the older girls (12-17) all jump into Heidi's car. (Heidi is my boss).
i end up being in charge of chaperoning the bus. a three hour ride with all these little girls really didn't sound like fun but i'm no stranger to cramped loud car rides. so i brushed off the annoyed feeling. we get about an hour into the trip- on those tight roads in the mountains when we run into a huge accident. it was a scary enough accident to have 3 air evac. helicopters come to pick up injured people. so we sat in a backed up line of cars for about 2 hours, until the road cleared. at this point everyone was restless and curious and straight up insane. it was okay though- we just popped in the Taylor Swift CD for the 8th time and then focus was averted.. oh little girls..
so we finally pull into the gym in Mesa area. everyone runs in and throws on Leos and we start our workout!
this was no workout i had ever done. workouts i had attended as a kid we structured and had purpose. this however was completely different. we gave them free reign of the gym. so some girls went to bars, other girls just played in the pits, some of them spent the whole time on the trampolines, they were everywhere. i guess the idea was that since we dont have this equipment they were suposed to try it all. and as coaches we were suposed to float around and help with different things and spread our knowledge about whatever the heck they were working on.
all in all it was a really interesting trip. but i felt like it was good for me to get to know the girls better.
another really awesome thing i got to do with my work was the parade! we walked along behind a float of our preschool and little tumblers classes and when ever the float would stop, we would back up and tumble. i mostly ran along side of the girls to make sure they wouldn't bulk last second and eat pavement.
i had a blast, and i even have an official coach shirt now! how cool is that?

Mira Elisa came to visit me!
Mira and i have been friends since i was a sophomore in high school! we always talked about her coming to live with me after i moved away from Spain. obviously that didn't happen. the next best thing was her coming to visit me when her family made their trips to the US. this time it wasnt going to happen either- she was goin gto go and visit our other friend Carla. those plans fell through and she came to visit me instead! it was such a blast! we got to have our girl time, she got to meet everyone here in Thatcher, we stocked her up on so much american food. (im not even kidding there was so much food.)the night before she left we spend all night long trying to get all of her purchases into her suitcases. juggling different weights between her 2 and a half bags was so hard! hahaha it makes me laugh to look back on though- only she could fill two giant bags with food. (:
there were a few highlights to her trip; the car accident, her going shooting, and commando!
the night we played commando things were going great until Mira decided to do a ninja dive for the ground and ripped open her knee! (it was already a huge scab. but there was so much blood.) so Josh picked her up and carried her home. from that point we bandaged her up and played a board game with everyone!
she was so excited at the prospect of shooting a gun! so my friend Dustin took her out one morning while i was in class! she loved it, the brought back pieces of the clay pigeons! everyone was so proud!
- side note-
everyone here loved her to death and they are still always asking me how shes doing. she fit right in here and everyone adopted her as their best friend too. shes just so dang lovable.
and last but not least was the car accident, in Elisa's words- "We ended with a bang"
and that we did. slammed right into the car in front of us. first wreck either of us had been in, i makes me laugh now that we were freaking out so much and poor Mira had almost no idea what was going on. just that i was pissed and scared and now owed a 200 dollar fine.
hahahaha i love Mira! i wish i could just keep her in my pocket. shes a little tall for that though.....

Semester sludge
i'd like to blame my lack of blogging to an ugly little thing i like to call semester sludge. I've hit the point in the semester where work, school, and everything in between has become far less entertaining than it was when i first moved in. like seems to move at a constant pace of dead. don't get me wrong- i still really love where i am and the people i have in my life now. I just feel like my classes have peaked at the level of projects and homework, everyones getting that ancy feeling you get when there is a much needed break in sight.
my days have stared to blur together and day to day isnt as exciting, there is still plenty for me to write about so i will do my best to keep up and fill you in. my mom is continually getting on my case to keep her updated and i guess i kind of owe her at least that much.
so the plan is to go back and fill in some holes and then update from that point on, in order.
thanks for putting up with my lack of will power to post.

Labor day weekend
labor day weekend was full of fun stuff. including: Fry Mesa, our pet snake, and dressing as old people.
Fry Mesa is an area up in the desert mountains, you have to have a truck to get up there because the roads are such crap. but once youre up there its amazing! there are a couple of different spots to go play at, we went to the "Pot holes" and the Dam. the Pot holes are slightly like Sedona's slide rock. the difference is that there are specific slides. and at the bottom of each one is a really really deep pond thing. its only small enough for the one person going down the slide. you slide down so fast and its super scary but the pot holes are sooo deeep you dont even come close to touching the bottom. and each slide connects. you get like 20 people up there and youre constantly sliding because the water rush coming off of one persons slide down pushes the next person down their slide.
The dam is close to some little cliffs. so you walk across the dam to the cliffs, climb up, and jump off the other side into the water. its more than a little terrifying. and i didnt think i could do it until Dustin said it was because i was a girl. then i jumped. and it was amazing. after that i jumped a whole bunch of more times!
on the way home from Fry Mesa we found a giant rock well. it was empty aside from a little snake! so we pulled him out and brought him home with us! he was called Bro-bie. (on the way up to Fry Mesa one of the guys called us "Bro Beans" and Blythe hated it, so Bro-Bie worked perfectly.
when we got him home we game him some water, which he decided to drown himself in. he curled all up and stuck his face in. no one could stop our poor little suicidal snake. so he passed away. thats why our front yard has a dead animal smell coming from it.
the last thing we did was Monday night, we dressed as old people and got a senior discount at Denny's. it didnt work im sure, the manager even said "yeah they can order off of the senior menu, they can also order off of the childs menu."
whatever. we got the discount!

voice mail.
its been a while since i've written anything so im going to just unload! starting waaay back when my dad freaked the crap out of my room mates.
so i had gone to bed, forgetting that my Dad was planning on calling me about my broken moped (which is still not fixed- ill get to that in a later post)
so im asleep and my phone is on the couch and its ringing and ringing and Blythe decides it must be an important call because whoever this person is, they arent giving up. so she listens to the voice mail to see if its an emergency (in case she needed to wake me up or whatever her thought process was)
the voice mail is my Dad going "LOOOOOOGAAAAANNN. logan.logan.looooooogan,loga-ga-ga-ga-nnnn" over and over and over again with a few of his weird little noises in there. Jazmyn's first reaction is that its some creepy guy and they shouldnt answer, but B says. "what if hes hot?" and answers the phone.
then Dad goes on to say, "uhh, hey is Logan there" and when they told him i was asleep he hung up.
the next morning B told me, dude. some guy called you! he sounded like a total weirdo. then Jaz threw in that she had talked to him. i asked how the voice mail message went and the second B started i knew it was my dad. when i got a chance to listen and confirm what i though Jaz was so surprised- they both thought it was some guy our age that was creepin at wee hours of the morning!
hahahahahahaha. oh Dad. gotta love that old guy

so im asleep and my phone is on the couch and its ringing and ringing and Blythe decides it must be an important call because whoever this person is, they arent giving up. so she listens to the voice mail to see if its an emergency (in case she needed to wake me up or whatever her thought process was)
the voice mail is my Dad going "LOOOOOOGAAAAANNN. logan.logan.looooooogan,loga-ga-ga-ga-nnnn" over and over and over again with a few of his weird little noises in there. Jazmyn's first reaction is that its some creepy guy and they shouldnt answer, but B says. "what if hes hot?" and answers the phone.
then Dad goes on to say, "uhh, hey is Logan there" and when they told him i was asleep he hung up.
the next morning B told me, dude. some guy called you! he sounded like a total weirdo. then Jaz threw in that she had talked to him. i asked how the voice mail message went and the second B started i knew it was my dad. when i got a chance to listen and confirm what i though Jaz was so surprised- they both thought it was some guy our age that was creepin at wee hours of the morning!
hahahahahahaha. oh Dad. gotta love that old guy

commando, the dot game, ninjas, awesome.
playing commando is the new big thing. our house, the Paine house, and Melissa's boyfriend and his house mates all play!
there is an area on campus where there's tons of trees and bushes and signs for hiding and tagging and such.
its the funnest thing ever! everyone laughs and laughs and its a crazy good workout! we all finish sweaty and sore the next day.
we've been playing it every other night! whoever can be there goes and yeah! its super cool

Gymnastics
i spent most of my life in a gym, in a leo, covered in chalk and sweat, listening to coach after coach after coach.
after i stopped being in the gym almost everyday i didn't want to go back. I went back into a gym a few times to try and see what i could do and i got more and more frustrated that i couldn't do what i saw in my head, or what i knew my body could do underneath the years of sitting around vs. staying at the gym all day everyday.
fast forward. there is a little gym in Thatcher and i decided that i would finally take my moms advice and apply to a gym.
they have amazing hours- they're not open on Mondays or the weekend. and they don't open until the mid morning (most of my classes are over by then)
so i planned on calling them Tuesday morning when they opened- buuuuutttttt she called me (the owner/ head coach)
the day before and offered me a job!
i went in on Thursday night for 2 hours! it was a blast! i got to help throw little kids in the air. i also helped with drills and spotting and vault! i helped a lot with vault! which was my favorite. and i love. vault is the coolest event!
well i have a cool job! hopefully i end up with more hours than just Thursday nights!

possible new room mate
one of my biggest fears is debt, not necessarily debt but being homeless because of debt. i have reason to believe that this fear stems from reading Confessions of a Shopaholic. if you've read it, I'm sure you understand.
anyway! i have a room mate who is in a spot i would never want to be in. She owes our land lady over 500$ and the problems add up from there.
as I've been on my own it's been hard to decide if i want to eat Ramen and buy a cute shirt or however the argument may go at the time.
money moves differently than it did when i was at home, i dont pay for gas anymore and yet it feels like there is always some super expensive necessity that drains my bank account (the latest being textbooks)
okay so back to Melissa, shes moving out. thank goodness. because i was about to burst about her using all my shampoo and food and other such things....
shes moving into the "slut hut" which cracks me up.

institute dance!
Last night was the first YSA dance of the semester! it was super fun! i love dances where people actually dance! And meeting new people is always way fun too! Church and Institute are the only places i really find people my age, I'm taking more advanced classes and my house mates are all older so the people they hang out with are all older as well.
anyway! it was really fun!
and afterwards we snuck into best western's pool! that was my favorite! there was a hot tub and a really nice (not pond) pool! we just couldn't be very loud, which was even more entertaining because everyone was jumping into the pool funny to keep their splash smaller, as well as everyone was running around speaking really quietly and every once in a while someone would laugh and everyone would like duck or shoot a dirty look around the pool. which made me giggle so i'd have to cover my mouth!
it was a good night! I'm excited for Devotional on Tuesday!

leaky roof
the phrase "it doesnt rain in Thatcher" was said a billion times last week. and then what do you know? it rained. hard. for two days straight. it was amazing and now everything smells so much fresher! the only down fall to all that rain was mine and Blythe's ceiling. it started to sag kind of funny on the first day and then the second day BOOM. it came through. then Blythe went around the room popping the little bulges so it would just come out!
we've emailed the land lord and talked to one of our friends that does roofs for a living. and although Nancy (the land lady) hasn't responded Josh (the roofer) says we need to keep trying before it end up molding!
sounds lovely huh? i just want to stop stepping in puddles, there are a ton in our room!

care package
this is me in my cool new EA shirt! but that's not what this post is about...
so i went to the mail box this afternoon and found a really really cool package from my mom! It was full of soup (which was perfect timing because today has been cold and rainy and basically a soup kind of day!)
it also had all my mail and a very cute shirt!
i love my mom!(:

holding in farts
living with other girls that are only slightly gross. its hard! everyone talks about "that one time" when Melissa pooped and the whole house smelt! so this is the trick i learned, SHOWER. fart in the shower.
i realize that this is probably the grossest post of all time, but its so hard to be secretly as gross as i am!

your mom goes to college
i started school today! i love it! I'm taking some cool classes-
Psych 101
Gen Chem (with my room mate!- so were splitting the cost of the book! woot!)
Gen Bio
Eng 101
Institute
Physicals (which is basically a gym membership and i have to go in for about 2 hours a week)
even though it wasn't my first day of college, and I'm not in grade school, i woke up with first day gitters.
i picked out a cute outfit and did my hair cute and i stayed awake in every single class!
for lunch the institute made us food! i guess its a way of getting people in there and having them actually sign up for classes! although. i must say. their actual "class" hours are sooo wanky. and i have classes during that time! so I'm going to go to Seminar and Devotional because that is at a normal time. hopefully next semester ill work out my classes better! I'm excited though! on Tuesdays for devotional its church dress! so ill just look super classy for Chem Lab!
and tonight is Family Home Evening! (if you're my uncle Bryan it's family home ev-uh-ning or if you're baby Paige it's family home-nevning)
i got really sick on Sunday so i'm excited to go and hang out with some church kids! i missed my Mormon interactions. after a while those become necessary.

weekend date
i went on a crazy date this weekend and in case you were wondering- that is why i haven't updated anything!
so this date was out in Wilcox (about 45 min. from my house).
there was a buuuunch of couples all at my friend Josh's Moms house. so we drive out there, make dinner and watch a movie! and the boys go and sleep outside while the girls spent the night inside! (this was the strangest date i have ever been on) but it was way fun! there was tons of girly stuff going on like talking about the boys outside and painting our nails and stuff!
in the morning we got all pretty- which took forever! i thought it would take a while but holey moley. it took forever. eventually we all got together and set up a picnic and hit the road again. i cant remember the name of the mountain we went to but it was all grey and misty outside! compared to the broken AC and heat of thatcher it was heaven up there! so we hiked around and ate yummy food. there was a little stream that a bunch of us went and climbed around in (mostly the couples that didn't involve over done up or super prissy girls) it was a blast! and everyone was super awesome and fun to hang out with!
at the end of the night we went to a little farm in Wilcox where a bunch of people bought fresh goats milk! i thought it tasted gross but most of them liked it! we fed piggies and goats and there were plenty of little cats and dogs following us around. i love farms. my dog came from a farm. shes pretty cool.
anyway! after that we all packed up and came home! it was really really fun! i don't think ill do it again, just because it was a little weird to stay at a strangers house with people i barely knew but hey! gotta try it before you say you don't like it, right?

Moped Story.
so today im out running around, just getting stuff done! library, post office, and other small trips were on that list.
on my way home im at a stop light and it turns green so i rev my engine and try to pull across the intersection. and the bike putts out. it would not go. so i pulled it off to the side as the light goes green again. im looking at it and trying to figure out what the problem is. i pulled the breaks and pushed start so i could hear the engine and it starts! so im like sweet ill just drive it back over to where im supposed to be in the intersection.
the bike takes off. like a mad man, im holding on and trying to put my legs up so i can at least control it. that doesn't work, instead i end up getting dragged. and finally the bike just falls on top of me.
> mind you, my light is red still, so there is traffic that could kill me so fast.
so im lying there under my bike and at some point in the take off process i lost a shoe. so i get the bike up- wheel it back to where im supposed to be. park it. wait until traffic is clear. run for my shoe. and run back for the bike.
i got it running again after that and made it home safe and sound. minus a few scrapes to the both of us and some bruises on me. we're alright.
but the best part of this story was the van next to me in the intersection- where the parents looked on in horror (and did nothing at all) the children in the back were cheering me on and i'm certain one of them was pointing and laughing as i put my shoe back on.

FHE ditchers!
back story:
the institute building is under construction so the singles have been meeting at this building that's pretty far from the house- i went on Sunday and it took me about 15 min. by moped. (everything around here is closer than 5 min.) so its a distance!
anyway! so last night it was getting dark and i decided not to go to FHE, but don't fret! i was still being social! a group of kids all went out the the ponds again! it was Blythe, Bryan (the nervous kid earlier mentioned as Brandon. he is a veeeryy quite guy but hes a sweet heart and i think there's something between him and B but im not 100% sure). a kid named Farrin, David- John, and Melissa and boyfriend Josh.
we same across the pond and back, which really doesn't sound like much. but this pond is much more like a small lake.. with islands to explore. we went to look in a cave but all the goopy moss and mud under my toes was tooooo much. so i didn't go very far! and everyone made fun of me calling em a city girl. which is so weird to me. i don't feel like a city child at all but i guess im not very "country" either.
it was a good work out though! then we went to all the guy's house to watch Dream House and play a game called Magic. i guess it was the very first card game like Pokeman. and its a big deal around here- i guess there is even big huge tournaments and stuff all the time. i find that so comical. its like there really is nothing to do here so they sit around playing this AWFUL card game that doesn't even make much sense. and in the words of David-John, "i don't know the real rules, i just make it up as i go."
okay so let me tell you about these kids,
we'll start with Josh. He's Melissa's (house mate) boy friend. he calls me hiccup because i got the hiccups while we were out in the pond! hes a huge guy and hes kind of strange. he grew up here so hes a self proclaimed expert on a whole bunch of the weird things they do here. last night at the pond he did a flip off of a rope swing (unknowingly) into super shallow water and now hes got these big gashes in his hair and he called himself a shark fighter all afternoon.
then there's David-John. hes like 30 something years old and he still hangs out with kids way younger than him. i'm pretty sure hes related to a bunch of people here so he just sticks around. plus i think he works at the mine. umm! hes dating this girl who is my age, i find that super freaking weird. but everyone says i'll have to meet the girl before i can say its weird.... uh. we'll see.
Farrin is this little guy who is super goofy. i think hes got some kind of handicap. but i could be wrong. Blythe talks to him like he is.. so maybe.
Melissa says that he is into me "because im new" and because "they always want to keep the group close so it would be the perfect fit." i kindly declined that offer. hes not really my type.
so day two was pretty dang fun! i learned that im pretty great at frisbee when i try! so im going with Melissa to a big game tonight! im excited!

Thatcher Hick.
okay lets start with yesterday morning! sunday- church. no one else in the house was going due to a broken radiator (so no car) and no real desire to. so i got up early and got as cute as i could. grabbed the MoPed and took off. in my church clothes. so, some pretty high heels and a skirt. i felt pretty boss. i was even fast enough to pass a tractor! cool stuff. so church was interesting. i got some nasty looks when i walked into RS. while that was cool and all i had to giggle because i don't consider myself much a a threat. i mean come on. i burp and fart like a man and sometimes i choose not to shower.
this is the best part though, one of the girls that gave me the stink eye was sitting there in class totally picking her nose. not even trying to hide it or anything. just stinking her finger up there and then straight back down to her mouth! i remembered her face from when i was visiting Tali! so im pretty sure she works at the beauty school. ohh pretty girls are gross too. good to know.
in sunday school is was asked to read a scripture full of names i couldnt pronounce. so i turned red and that was lovely. And in sacrament all the girls who talked had a sort of introduction to their talks that sounded like they were trying to sell themselves. i guess that is why singles ward is made fun of so much. people there are freaks. to say the least.
after church Ed came over to hang out and when he heard that i hadn't ever shot a gun he jumped up and called his brother and we all went over to his sisters house. they loaded up a crazy bunch of kids and we all went out further into the middle of no where! and shot at golf balls! i shot 3 different knids of guns! i couldnt tell you when kinds but one of them gave me a big huge bruise on the kick back! and then a different kind of gun had hot brass (thats what they called it) that flew at me after B shot it and it burnt my arm! so i have a cool scar from my first real day in Thatcher.
we hung out with Ed's family for a while! theyre all really cool! his pregnant sister never missed the target when she was shooting- which was kind of scary. and the other 3 kids were super cute and welcomed me really quickly so i had a blast! Emm (a 4 year old) kept grabbing my ankles and asked me to pull her around as i walked "like uncle Eddie does"
then Carter (3 years old) with is lasso string would run around hitting B and I and tell us that he was being a cow boy! and lastly Claire (1) would ask to be twirled around like a princess! and when i would stop she would say "again! again! pleeeeeaseeeee"
B and Ed and I road in the back of the truck on the way back from shooting (we sat there on the way out too) which was a first for me. but the little kids would knock on the window from inside and play peek-a-boo. while we threw golf balls out the back!
on the way back to Ed's brother house we were talking about what everyone does for fun here and he asked me if i had ever been swimming in a pond. my answer was something like "um, no. that sounds a little gross."
and then we went to a pond. luckily it was dark so it didn't look suuuuper gross or anything. it was actually kind of fun- a little freaky though because there was no touching the bottom of this thing. you just jump off this huge floating dock! and you're in.
afterwards we crammed back in Eds teeny car (me on B's lap) and drove home!
we actually got pulled over put it was super weird. the cop didnt really look into the window, so B and Ed think that he didnt know we were piled into the passenger seat. i think he knew but that we looked like stupid college kids so he just let us off. but who knows! either way its kind of funny!
it was a pretty great first day! ending with home made biscuits and gravy! and shooting stars!
i can now add HICK to my resume. cool beans.
house mates and Ed.
so lets start with my roomie, Blythe. She is a super cute girl and she is super goofy too. When she talks there is always a movie quote involved and its always said in a silly voice. B sleeps on a cot and wears bball shorts and tee shirts all the time. if i was going to compare her to anyone i know it would have to be my aunt Kathy Strode. with a hint of Seth in there. She is a huge tom boy and she listens to awesome music! so far i like her a lot. She is super weird- not gonna lie, but its the good kind of weird.
then there's Jazymn. (i don't think im spelling that right but i do know there is a Z in there.) she is the house artist. shes super crafty and has piles of old weird things laying around that will soon turn into house deco. she doesn't talk to me and only hardly cares i exist. Shes like those girls that are secretly rude. to the point where everyone is like "oh, her. i know her" but has nothing else to really say about her. but when she is with her group of friends she just kind of sulks with them. thats all they do, sit on the couch and kind of mumble at each other. so maybe its a good thing we dont really mix well. i don't want to mix with her. she is super hipster but not the cute kind. the freak kind.
and my other home buddy, Melissa. She is really cute and super cool too! last night we were talking and she said that she doesn't really agree with the other girls on a lot of things and that they are pretty different from her too. i don't think she likes their loud craziness. (maybe its the Strode part of me that gets a long with the cuckoos) but i find Melissa very fun to talk to! shes always got these crazy stories about goofy people here and the weird things they do! but I like her! and so far we get on great!
Ed is the first person, aside from the home bodies, that i met! he is a lot like my uncle Mike. Hes always got a bandanna on or around his wrist, hes scraggly and funny. hes always wearing cut offs and all of his belongings are in his car at all times. He has told me about how he aspired to be a hobo when he was a kid so he did it. he went around California and New mexico and a bunch of other places. just living! him and his shot gun. he learned Spanish and Portuguese on his mission in Kentucky. and so sometimes he just says stuff in those languages, sometimes its mumbling and other times its yelling to the world. he has big huge chops for side burns- like my uncle Matt. and he goes barefoot everywhere he possible can. he says 'Right on' an awful lot and he has a funny accent. but its a made up one im sure. I've never heard anyone talk like him. hes 24 and he lives here with his sister and brother in-law. and all they're really cute kids! but he hangs out here at the house a lot!
Blythe talks about this kid named Bryan a lot. hes supposed to come over later to do his laundry. B said the house gets quiet when hes around because hes a nervous person. so that should be cool!

B said the house gets quiet when hes around because hes a nervous person. so that should be cool!
new house, new people
so i moved out to go to college at Eastern Arizona College in Safford/ Thatcher Arizona. (those towns are so small that they're basically linked together and i'm not really sure where one ends and the other starts because its all on one road.
everything here is really old and kind of falling apart- its all part of the charm though. its also small enough that everyone pretty much knows everyone. and if they don't know them on a personal level they at least know of them! let me introduce my house mates first and as i go ill tell you about everyone in town. since i'm bound to meet a bunch of them.
my house is called Shrubbery. its the house that looks like a bush is eating it. its right down the street from the Math and Sciences building! which is prefect for me because that's where most of my classes are at! anyway! back to the house.. its full of all this cute art work and as Tori put it "it looks like Pintrest addicts live here" and i don't doubt that many of the ideas came from there.
when you first walk in there's this little living room with a big ugly couch covered by a lime green bed comforter and other various seats that match the couch. there are Chinese lanterns hanging in the corner and skateboard shelves filled with books. the plain beige walls are covered in maps and quotes and paintings. drift wood, key racks, old luggage, type writers, and so on decorate the room! its so cute and odd all at the same time. and there are always boys in the living room playing call of duty or some other intense game while they're laundry goes though our machines for cheaper than the laundry mat.
then you walk through a stickered door way to the kitchen. which is packed full of food- im not sure how much of it (aside from mine) is good. anyway! There is a big light strand on the wall thats spells out "home" and sheet music and book pages cover all the very ugly unsightly parts of the kitchen (the box of wires and such). our oven reminds me a lot of an old dryer we had when i was younger called Napoleon. its cute and old but it makes the house sooo hot! (and the AC doesn't work so it gets hell hot in this little place.) the fridge is covered in chalk board paint and written on all over the place! there are only 2 drawings that dont change. an Anchor made of words from a love song and a compass key. i have no idea why those get to stay but they do. and all that's left in there is a little creeky table.
a door in the kitchen leads to the laundry room, and a door in there leads to the back yard. its pretty simple.
the other side of the house is our bedrooms and bathroom! the hall in between is filled with magazine collages. they hold everything from good looking men to quotes from the office, and even old school newspapers that are from the 1930s or something like that.
our bedrooms are pretty much a good description of who we are which cracks me up. if you didn't know us, spending about 20 mins on each side of the bedroom would give you a pretty decent idea of what we like and how we act. (that goes for each bedroom)
the bathroom is gross. thats the best word i have for it. but it has a flushing toilet and running shower. although the shower feels like its stabbing you the whole time youre in. which makes for some short showers. i think that's the point though. move fast don't waste water, don't die.
